Wednesday Whims

  • Coincidence or *Russian accent* - flexing dee muss kuls:
    • Russia is staging their biggest war games since Soviet era. (CNN)
    • Splinter (who?) re-applies for asylum in Russia.  Not the right season for Venezuela?  I think he's like my 6 month old, he wants what he cannot have (coffee, knives, any thing that's out of reach).  Or, he can't make travel arrangements to Venezuela without being captured and the US annulled his passport.
  • At the same time, Russian President Putin says Snowden's application for asylum isn't up to him and the decision is up to the Federal Migration Service.  What do you bet that if Putin couldn't use Snowden for something, he would already be dead or turned over to the US?
  • I once did a barrel roll out of a moving taxi cab.
  • TWO days (counting today) until we leave for Texas.  Ready for some catfish population control in the pond, hot weather, accents, Shiner Bock beer, fireworks that go BOOM (legally), and most importantly time with the family.
  • The 13 year old is excited for the same things (minus the beer), but specifically excited about having more subjects to use his ninja remote (universal remote for TVs) on.
  • Senator Crapo: Angry Facebook comments regarding student loans - I never knew Chobani yogurt could stir people up so much, usually it's the other way around.. I stir the yogurt.  When I CHOOSE to buy the yogurt, it's my CHOICE to use debit or credit.  Either way, I know the terms I am agreeing to prior to making MY decision.
  • State Representative Jeff Thompson is a hard man to find much information on.  His website: http://thompsonforidaho.wordpress.com/ has a link for newsletters, but nothing is posted.  Maybe my inquiry will spark some motivation. Hopeful.
  • Hangovers worsen with age.  Loud noises seem louder with a hangover.  42 year old Shawn Duncan should have learned this by now.  A lifeguard at Salisbury beach was punched in the face after blowing his whistle at distant swimmers.  Story.
  • Splash Park!: Idaho Falls' Rotary Club will host its 23rd Annual Duck Race on August 10th.  Proceeds will be used to build a "fabulous water feature" on the Greenbelt, reads their website.
